DHL Global Forwarding has launched DHL SameDay Speedline for emergency air freight logistics.
According to a DHL Global Forwarding spokesperson, although DHL SameDay Speedline is a multi-sector product offering a solution for emergency shipments, it’s especially attractive for automotive, electronics, aerospace and aviation, energy, marine, logistics and life sciences industries, including temperature controlled, dangerous or out-of-gauge goods.
Providing a flight out service, each unaccompanied shipment is monitored from origin to destination by 24/7/365 SameDay contact centres in the US, Singapore and Ireland. Customer service representatives are at hand to handle the majority of quotes and routing options for door-to-door transits in less than 60 minutes.
The service’s global network of over 50 stations covers the greatest geographical demand for emergency shipments, with further organic growth on the cards.
Hailed as a cost-effective option from the Deutsche Post DHL Group, the service covers urgent delivery of spare parts, newly launched products and critical medical supplies.
Customers receive customised milestone updates of their shipments movement after the logistical event. In the case of an irregularity, resolution is available in minutes.
Benefits such as 24/7/365 pickup and delivery, collection within 120 minutes and quotations within 60 minutes has enabled the DHL SameDay Speedline product to fill the gap for a much needed global expedited solution.
“The emergency shipment market is growing with just-in-time inventories for industries from aerospace and energy to manufacturing to adapt their supply chains. The need for mission critical shipment delivery to avoid line down situations continues to arise and requires a partner that has the global reach combined with the technology to provide transparency to each sector-specific logistical challenge,” says DHL Global Forwarding global head of air freight Ingo-Alexander Rahn. “DHL SameDay Speedline fills this gap and provides added value through its many service features.”
Next to specific industry sector solutions, the scope of DHL SameDay extends to time-critical cargo or unplanned emergencies.
Rahn concludes by pointing out that after surveying more than 200 customers from various industry sectors with emergency shipment needs, DHL Global Forwarding saw a need to develop a product utilising the best of both world – the leverage of DHL’s relationships in countries with the emergency product technology and intelligence of the DHL SameDay team.
