Misubishi Motors NZ has appointed its long-term accountant as its chief financial officer.
Craig Pinny has been appointed to the position after 27 years with the Porirua-based distributor of cars and Fuso trucks.
Craig joined Mitsubishi (then Todd Motors) in 1987, soon after getting his chartered accountant’s papers.
He’s worn a variety of hats – from financial accounting and internal auditing to legal compliance and company secretaryship – though in recent times his strong focus has been on improving dealer profitability.
“I’ve been heavily involved in the retail interface for more than a decade,” Pinny says. “Concentrating with senior colleagues on developing truly win-win relationships and supporting dealers in the quest to improve sales and profitability: theirs’, and ours’!
“Our close-knit HQ team shares common sales, profit and customer satisfaction objectives, and this increasingly close integration is one key to our impressive growth: 52 consecutive months of rising year-on-year sales, with 2013/14’s 6,500 retail sales 23% up on the previous FY,” Pinny explains.
“And now Mitsubishi’s stolen a march in a big way with the world’s first plug-in hybrid SUV,” he says. “Even accountants can get excited.”
“It’s stimulating to be in the thick of all this, finding ways to bring finance, IT and admin systems and practices – already industry leading – into even closer unity and cooperation with the dealer team: all aimed, at the end of the day, at achieving the best possible result for the customer,” Pinny added.
