Daimler Truck chief executive Martin Daum is temporarily taking on chief financial duties following the death of its former CFO Jochen Goetz, 52, who died “suddenly and unexpectedly in a tragic incident” on August 5.
Daimler says the death of Goetz, who spent his entire professional career at the group for over 36 years, “leaves the company and its employees dismayed”.
“The large number of expressions of grief and condolence underlines how closely the former CFO of Daimler Truck was associated with the company, its employees, and partners,” it says.
The board says it has immediately started the search for a successor for the executive finance position.
Daum says the death of Goetz “is a tremendous loss for Daimler Truck, both personally and professionally”.
“I have known Jochen for more than 20 years and have always worked with him in various functions in an excellent manner.
“He has played a key role in shaping today’s Daimler Truck company and, as chief financial officer, has consistently worked towards making the company more economically successful today than ever before,” Daum says.
