This has seen Cummins and Isuzu form an alliance board and assign a team from each company to explore opportunities in product technology development, procurement and manufacturing.

Cummins chief executive and chairman Tom Linebarger says the brand, which is celebrating 100 years, is continuing to look for opportunities to partner with other companies that share a focus on innovation.

Isuzu Motors president and representative director Masanori Katayama says there is still plenty of innovative potential in the diesel engine.

“Isuzu and Cummins recognise the advanced diesel engine is, and will continue to be, an important power choice for global customers in commercial vehicle and industrial applications.

“This is especially true in developed countries where power sources are used for high-intensity operations, as well as in emerging countries where social infrastructure conditions are severe,” Katayama says.

Cummins and Isuzu have been leaders in technological innovation in complementary regions of the world.

Both companies continue to innovate and advance the diesel engine in terms of power, quality, emissions and fuel efficiency and expect diesel to remain a primary power solution in many markets.

Isuzu Australia chief operating officer Andrew Harbison welcomes the partnership and the possibilities it may present for truck customers.

“We’re pleased to see this exciting collaboration take another step forward,” Harbison says.

“Both Cummins and Isuzu Motors Limited have extraordinary tenure in the global automotive sector, so it’s genuinely exciting to see where this synergy could lead.

“Australia is a highly-regarded market and we work closely with our parent company in Japan to ensure our customers have access to the world’s best road transport solutions.

“This recent announcement is another important stride towards ensuring that continues long into the future,” Harbison says.
