Scottish transport entrepreneur Sir Brian Souter has launched a new express coach service called ManaBus.Com which will compete with incumbent operators Naked Bus and InterCity.
“We believe offering consumers more choice at affordable prices, will grow the total public transport market and encourage a modal shift from the private car,” says Souter.
Souter says ManaBus.Com will offer affordable express coach services and provide travellers consistent quality service at low prices.
“Our experience from years of operation in the UK, North America, Poland and Finland has demonstrated that there is a demand for innovative city to city, express coach travel,” he notes.
ManaBus.Com adds another brand to existing Souter Holdings public transport businesses in New Zealand, which include Howick and Eastern Buses, Mana Coach Services and Fullers Group.
A fleet of brand new double decker coaches, designed and constructed in Tauranga by Kiwi Bus Builders, will offer customers connections between eight North Island destinations, including Auckland, Manukau, Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga, Wellington and Whangarei.
Tickets for the new services can be booked online with prices starting from $1 plus a $1 booking fee. Pricing includes luggage, free Wi-Fi and at-seat power as well as complimentary refreshments on selected services.
Every coach is equipped with air conditioning, reclining red leather seats and on-board toilet facilities.
The vehicles are low floor and accessible for those with limited mobility.
The launch of the new service has created approximately 70 new jobs across the North Island.
Services will commence daily from November 21.
