MTD trucks general manager Clive Jones says May was a solid month for Volvo truck and bus registrations.
“Since level 2, our quotation demand has rebounded to almost the same level year-to-date as last year so that is very positive for us,” he says.
Volvo led registrations the month prior with trucks ready to go just before the lockdown and delivered in the last days of April.
Jones says closure of Volvo Group Australia’s Wacol, Queensland manufacturing plant in response to COVID-19 from April 13 to May 10 had no negative impact on the local supply chain.
“The Wacol closure worked well for us as it prevented a massive backlog of trucks arriving while New Zealand was locked down. Those have now arrived and we have resumed deliveries,” he says.
