Shacman general manager for Latin America Xie Yan told Xinhua news the company attended the city’s recent heavy machinery expo as a first step.

“This fair is like a launching, an opening to show that Shacman trucks have arrived in Panama,” Yan says.

The company first entered the Latin American market in 2007 in Chile and Peru.

It now has a presence in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia and sells around 600 heavy vehicles a year throughout the area.

The trucks are also sold in more than 90 regions including Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe.

Shacman is a brand of Shaanxi Automobile Holding Group which is headquartered in the northwestern Chinese city of Xi’an.

It was founded in 1968 and employs around 32,000 people with over NZ$8 billion in total assets.

A recent Chinese commercial vehicle industry report says the country manufactures over three-and-a-half million trucks and buses annually with an increase of around 8% in 2016.
