Five people have been treated for fume inhalation after a container of nitric acid was punctured by a forklift truck at a Christchurch transport depot on Wednesday.
Emergency services were called to the Owens Transport yard in Baigent Way, Middleton, about 12.35pm on Wednesday, Stuff reports.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said more than a thousand litres of nitric acid had been spilled.
It was contained by 3pm and 25 staff worked to clean it up by applying a neutralising agent.
No one was hospitalised and there were no reports of further injuries.
