CablePrice has relocated its Hastings operation from Henderson Road to a completely new, purpose built site on the corner of Omahu Road and Chatham Road, Hastings.

Pat Ward, CablePrice (NZ) Ltd general manager of finance and administration, says the company had physically outgrown the Henderson Road site.

“While the old site served us well in the past, at around 2000 square metres, it just didn’t have the potential we’re looking for with our modern operations,” says Ward.

“Our new site is 7100 square metres with a fully concreted yard; the workshop alone is more than 1600 square metres and encompasses six truck bays each 30 metres long, two with Skylifters (no more in ground pits), plus an additional three specialist construction and forestry equipment half bays with steel rails set into the floor to cater for heavy machinery.

“This new branch is a major leap of faith and shows that we are fully committed to the greater Hawke’s Bay region. An investment like this is as much about our customers and staff as it is about the building. We are focusing on strong after-sales activity with well-trained and resourced staff operating from a modern workshop facility,” adds Ward.

He says that other features of the new site include a double-height parts warehouse that will house a number of additional parts, full under-floor heating including the workshop all fuelled on waste oil, a separate ‘clean room’ for diagnostics and rebuilds and fully reticulated oil, air and grease into the workshop.

On the second floor is a dedicated driver’s lounge offering tea, coffee and TV facilities along with the ability for drivers to overlook the workshop operation from a clean and safe environment.

“Customers generally associate CablePrice with our key brands, Hitachi, Scania, John Deere and Bell but people don’t always realise is that we actually service a multitude of other makes and models including Isuzu, as much of our Hitachi equipment is powered by Isuzu,” says Ward.

“The CablePrice nationwide network offers a range of comprehensive full fleet servicing options that are not limited to in-house only, as a large amount of our servicing is done in the field. The Hastings parts, sales and service team covers a large area, ranging from as far north as Wairoa to as far south as Dannevirke.

“Our Hastings operation employs 16 full time staff but with our continued growth we currently have a number of vacancies available in different roles. Anyone interested can find more information on our website.

“This recent investment in the Hawke’s Bay is just another part of our ongoing nationwide investment programme to ensure we offer all our customers a first choice service,” adds Ward
