CablePrice appointed new Tigercat dealer in NZ

Forestry equipment manufacturer Tigercat has announced a major shift in its New Zealand distribution network, with CablePrice (NZ) Ltd set to take over as the company’s authorised dealer from July 1, 2025.

The change will see distribution rights for Tigercat’s purpose-built forestry machinery transition from long-time partner AB Equipment (ABE), ending a 15-year relationship that began in 2010.

The move follows what Tigercat describes as a strategic realignment by both companies as they chart separate paths for their future in the local market.

Since becoming Tigercat’s official New Zealand dealer, ABE has played a key role in establishing and supporting the Canadian brand, maintaining strong market share despite recent industry headwinds.

Tigercat acknowledged the contributions of its outgoing partner, stating that the success of the relationship was “driven by the commitment of ABE’s sales and support staff,” and extended its thanks “to everyone involved.”

“As Tigercat moves forward with CablePrice, we are confident that this new partnership will continue to provide exceptional service and support to our valued customers in New Zealand,” the company says.

Glen Marley, Tigercat district manager for Australia and New Zealand, comments: “Tigercat has enjoyed a terrific and fruitful partnership with the whole team at AB Equipment over the past fifteen years, and we can only wish them all the best in their future direction.

“We’re all very much looking forward to working with the team at CablePrice to push hard on long-term growth and further success in the future, along with the same exceptionally high standard of customer support throughout New Zealand going forward.”

CablePrice, which has operated in New Zealand for more than 70 years, is known for its work in the construction, forestry, transport, agriculture, and mining sectors. The company imports and distributes industrial machinery and commercial vehicles, supported by a national network of service workshops and trained technicians.

CablePrice NZ managing director Aidan Mahony says the agreement with Tigercat marks a significant milestone.

“We are excited and proud to be partnering with Tigercat — an industry leader in forestry innovation and performance. This partnership represents a significant opportunity for CablePrice to further expand our presence in the forestry sector. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and delivering the highest levels of customer support to Tigercat owners and operators across the country.”

Tigercat has been working closely with both ABE and CablePrice to ensure a smooth handover, with minimal disruption to customers, the companies say.

The brand reaffirmed its commitment to the New Zealand forestry sector, stating it remains focused on delivering “innovative, purpose-built equipment and exceptional service” under the new partnership.
