BNZ deal takes aim at farmer’s asset lending

As part of a new multimillion dollar digital platform, BNZ has exclusively partnered with motorcycle distributor Blue Wing Honda to offer asset finance through its 52 New Zealand dealers.

Blue Wing Honda marketing manager Gary O’Neill says the exclusive partnership with BNZ was signed late last year after an extensive process of seeking a new finance partner.

The programme has recently gone live and more than half of the Blue Wing Honda network have signed dealer agreements with BNZ and are ready to offer an easy finance solution, he says.

O’Neill says that New Zealand farmers in particular like to finance their larger asset purchases, and that 60 to 70% of Blue Wing’s current ATV sales to the rural sector involve a finance package.

BNZ director of partners, Anthony Healey, says the new partnership with Blue Wing Honda was the bank’s first of this type with a vehicle distributor. Healy recently told interest.co.nz that it would be a “natural extension” for BNZ to look at similar deals with other vehicle brands.
