The bi-annual truck show, Trucking 2016 will return to Wigram Airforce Museum on October 8th, 2016.
The show is a joint initiative of the NZ Trucking Association and Road Transport Association NZ.
More than 10,000 people visited the event on one day, and the joint organizers say that early indications are that the show in 2016 is going to be even bigger.
Exhibitors and sponsors from the last event have made early bookings for the next event. A feature of the 2016 show includes a new marquee village outside.
This village is a new option for companies to hire so they can display their products or services or offer client hospitality in a 10m x 10m marquee.
It also includes vehicle or machinery display space outside. Options inside the C+E Hall include 72 trade spaces and a careers hub to help promote the transport industry.
Working displays will include log truck loading and unloading of logs, cranes, container loading and unloading, and remote control diggers.
Competitions throughout the day include tarping, an iron man competition involving a truck pull, and other competitions are announcing soon.
The Careers Hub will be located in the front of the C+E Hall so companies can advertise positions or promote training options.
The stars of the show are the Show and Shine Trucks – real working trucks that will line up with the old air force runway.
This year there is a new kid’s zone that will feature the “Heavy Trucks Giant Sandpit” filled with toy MAN trucks. There will be a scooter road system so kids can ride them and learn traffic safety and awareness at the same time.
Safety demonstrations will show how trucks and cyclists can share the road safely.
Cyclists can get in the cab of a large truck and see what the driver sees, and the truck driver can ride a bike to see what the cyclists can see.
The day will be rounded off with a function in the evening which includes themed bars, food stations for a continuous dinner, and entertainment from Bryan Townley and his band from Invercargill.
Entry to the show is a gold coin per person, and all proceeds donated to Ronald McDonald House SI and Child Cancer Canterbury.
An auction will take place at the evening function, and all proceeds donated to the charities.
Registrations for the Show & Shine and ticket purchases for the dinner are now available online at christchurchtruckingshow.co.nz.
For exhibitors and sponsors contact the show co-ordinator Carol McGready at the NZ Trucking Association to discuss any requirements on 0800 367 782.
