Beaurepaires confirms sale of heavy commercial branches

As reported by DieselTalk in late July, the sale and transition of Beaurepaire’s heavy commercial tyre service outlets has now been officially confirmed, as the company focuses on growing its position as a market leader in consumer tyres.

Campbell Gough, Goodyear and Dunlop Tyres NZ director of sales and marketing, says that although the commercial outlets are independently owned and may support different brands, the nation-wide network remains unchanged for national fleets and will continue to supply Goodyear and Dunlop commercial vehicle tyres.

The 17 North Island ex-Beaurepaires service operations are now owned by Carters Tyres, New Zealand’s largest independent tyre dealer, servicing retail and commercial customers. The purchase of the stores expands Carters reach across the whole of the North Island, whereas they previously operated north of Hamilton, only.

The six South Island stores have been picked up by Tyre General and General Tyres, owned by Neumanns Tyre Group and Jim Black. Their retail and commercial tyre operations extend across the South Island from Motueka to Invercargill.

Carter’s Tyre Service has an agreement with The Tyre General Group in the South Island to offer a seamless service and centralised billing system for Carter’s nationwide customers.

“It has been an extremely positive outcome,” says Gough. “All parties involved in the sale process were positive and proactive, which helped to minimise disruption to the customers and staff affected.

“Only one of the 24 stores has had to be closed, and the majority of the 219 affected staff have been retained by the new owners, so we are very pleased. Carters Tyres, Tyre General and General Tyres are all highly experienced operators in the commercial tyre industry and we look forward to very close strategic partnerships with them going forward.

“Aside from different store livery, national fleets will continue to receive the same nationwide service they enjoyed with Beaurepaires.”

Beaurepaires’ consumer servicing includes passenger cars, 4WDs and light trucks, with a country-wide network of over 70 retail stores.
