Vehicle, marine and workshop cleaning franchise AutoSmart New Zealand is expanding into the South Island with a new mobile showroom set to begin servicing the greater Canterbury region from later this year.
The company has commissioned a Fuso Fighter mobile showroom, currently being built by Custom Motor Bodies in Auckland. It is the first truck the bodybuilder has produced for AutoSmart and forms part of the company’s commitment to using New Zealand suppliers.
The purpose-built vehicle follows a design used by AutoSmart across Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe, providing a “warehouse on wheels” that enables sales staff to carry a full range of vehicle cleaning, workshop and maintenance products directly to customers.
“The truck and South Island sales manager will be working all around the greater Canterbury region and further afield from Spring 2026,” the company says.
AutoSmart says the mobile showroom is designed to support between 20 and 30 customer visits a day, carrying products ranging from formulated cleaning chemicals to brushes, polishing pads, rags and gloves.
The company says the expansion reflects its focus on providing fast, reliable service by allowing customers to view product demonstrations and receive deliveries directly at their premises.
AutoSmart says the Canterbury expansion is part of a broader growth strategy, with additional territories planned across both the North and South islands.
The company is seeking expressions of interest from prospective operators, offering either employed sales manager roles or franchise opportunities supported by the AutoSmart brand, product range, training and ongoing support.
Founded in the UK in 1979, AutoSmart has grown into a global supplier of vehicle cleaning and maintenance products through its international distribution network. The company expanded into Australia in 1996, where it has become one of the region’s largest trade suppliers, and has since established a growing presence in New Zealand through its local franchise network.
