Driver safety training business AutoSense is holding a seminar on driver fatigue and distraction in the transport industry.
The event is being hosted by racing legend Greg Murphy and is taking place at Suncourt Hotel, Taupo, on July 30 from 9am to 11:30am.
The seminar will focus on the main causes of distraction and fatigue, solutions to manage the risks, how technology can help reduce risk on the road and reduce insurance premiums and how to create a culture of safety.
AutoSense chief executive Charles Dawson says preventing accidents and improving road safety is the priority.
“There have been too many crashes around the area lately and while not all these crashes are related to distraction and fatigue, we know that these are real contributing factors to many accidents, and it’s something that our business can directly help with.
“We’ve partnered with some key players in the transport industry such as EROAD, NZI, Fit for Duty Fatigue Management, as well as having support from local businesses BFA Business Advisors and Accountants, Spark Business and Matt Jensen Insurance Brokers.
Having their involvement in an event like this shows that there is a real desire locally to do something about safety on our roads,” Dawson says.
Murphy says he pleased to be involved in the event and help advocate for road safety.
“We all know the road toll is too high and I’m pleased to be involved in an event like this to discuss how to mitigate risks on the road, as well as showcase some of the technology available to help keep drivers safe on the roads.
“It’s a really important seminar and I encourage any transport operators, or general public who are interested, to come along.”
