There is a new name behind many of the stories in AutoTalk, and on our websites and sister publications, as publisher Auto Media Group beefs up its editorial team.
Well-known motoring journalist Robert Barry has joined the company as chief reporter.
He will be working predominantly on daily news for the AutoTalk and DIESELtalk websites, as well as contributing to the group’s magazines.
“With three websites, two magazines and a reference book, we have been stretched for some time,” says managing editor Richard Edwards. “Having Robert on board means we can service our readers better – and allows us to take on new opportunities as they come along.”
Barry has been test driving vehicles and reporting on the New Zealand automotive industry for more than a decade.
He started his writing and photographic career at Fairfax’s Suburban Newspapers in July 2003, and was then appointed the founding editor of a local automotive sales magazine called Go Auto for 12 months.
For the past seven years he has worked on Motor Equipment News, NZ Four wheel drive magazine, and NZ Company Vehicle magazine for Adrenalin Publishing, gathering a thorough understanding of the fleet leasing and management market, and the automotive and heavy diesel service sector.
A member of the New Zealand Motoring Writer’s Guild, and the current secretary for more than eight years, Barry has also mentored young journalists, won several awards for writing, and he continues to be a passionate advocate for the motor car as a primary means of transport.
