Vehicle auctions on both sides of the Tasman Sea are continuing to operate as normal, though more buyers are bidding online rather than in person at the auction site.

Cox Automotive Australia and New Zealand marketing and communications director Mathew McAuley says Manheim auctions in both countries are still progressing as planned, but says initial feedback is fewer people are physically coming on site and there is more online activity.

McAuley says Manheim takes the health and safety of customers and staff seriously and to assist with social distancing at upcoming auctions the company is politely requesting buyers not to bring their family and friends with them.

““We will welcome actual bidders to our sales and we also strongly encourage online bidding via Simulcast so you can make your purchases from your home or office, says McAuley.

“We will continue to monitor government recommendations and will keep you all updated on our auction formats moving forward,” he says.

Turners Automotive Group chief executive officer Todd Hunter says all Turners auctions across New Zealand are running as normal.

“The number of people attending in person is quite low as everyone has the option of bidding and buying online,” says Hunter.
