Auckland Council tells contractor to move bus depot

Auckland Transport contractor Pavlovich Coachlines is moving more than 60 buses from a West Auckland depot in Ranui because it did not have consent for such use on the site.

The company will temporarily relocate the fleet to its Carr Road depot in Mount Roskill until it finds a more permanent solution in West Auckland. It will run a staff shuttle to and from the sites.

According to Stuff, Auckland Council instructed Pavlovich Coachlines on July 31 to relocate the buses as the property was zoned for single housing and it did not have resource consent to use it as a depot.

Pavlovich was the winner of Auckland Transport’s contracts to service most of west Auckland’s new bus routes from June 11 this year.

Auckland Council compliance and resource consents manager Steve Pearce told Stuff that Pavlovich’s depot was in a single house zone under Auckland’s unitary plan.

He says Pavlovich committed to moving all buses by August 5.
