Associate minister of transport Julie Anne Genter has announced plans to take time off for the birth of her baby from next month.
The minister will stop flying and remain based in Auckland from 15 July up until the baby’s birth, due on 6 August. She will continue to carry out her duties from Auckland until she goes into labour.
She will then take leave for up to three months – potentially until November 6.
Whilst on leave, Greens co-leader James Shaw will take on her transport role.
