Brazilian private security company Prosegur says Mercedes-Benz Trucks supply 96% of its 1650 unit armoured heavy vehicle fleet for transporting high-value goods across the South American country.
Transporting valuable goods, such as pharmaceuticals, cigarettes, artwork, and electronics in secure armoured vehicles to prevent theft is a growing industry in Brazil.
The new Mercedes-Benz Axor 2644 is the flagship of the Prosegur fleet of armoured transport vehicles.
It is Brazil’s biggest armoured truck yet, and is used by the security company to securely carry up to 74 tons of freight to its intended destination.
To satisfy the increased need for smaller and more nimble transport solutions, Prosegur also recently commissioned 134 custom built compact armoured trucks using the 915 E Mercedes‑Benz truck chassis.
One of the unique security features of the custom-built vehicle is the “expanded polyurethane injection system”.
If any unauthorised persons manage to get inside the vehicle to try and open the safe, a quickly hardening polyurethane spray is released inside it thereby securely containing the valuables within in less than 22 seconds.
