While Australian buyers can purchase a new Actros heavy-duty truck from stock today, New Zealand customers will have to wait until March when Mercedes-Benz is announcing the local model line-up at THE Expo.
DIESELtalk is in Cairns, Northern Queensland today for the official Australian media drive of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros range of heavy-duty prime mover trucks, and a full report on the vehicle range will be available in the November PDF magazine.
The Actros is launching in Australia with three variants of it’s OM series six-cylinder diesel engines, all of which are Euro6 compliant, which the distributor says offers operators fuel savings of up to 7% over the previous generation truck and AdBlue savings of up to 40%.
Regarding the Actros offering for our market, Mercedes-Benz Trucks New Zealand senior manager Pieter Theron confirmed to DIESELtalk that the process is 80% completed.
Theron says that 65% of Actros sales in New Zealand are for 8×4 models.
“We are working to establish a full model range and price for our New Zealand customers, and we are about 80% there,” says Theron.
“We’ve already had a commitment from some clients who say they want to order new 6×4 and 8×4 models from us, even though the pricing is not confirmed yet, we do have some very loyal customers,” he says.
