The Automobile Association’s long-serving head of motoring services, Stella Stocks, has announced she will retire at the end od the year.

Stocks has been with the association since 1999, and oversaw its entry into the inspection industry, and the development of its AA Auto Centre network.
Stella has played a pivotal role in fostering support for ANCAP (the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme) with a passion for promoting the importance of vehicle safety. She also launched the AA Driven Car of the Year Awards.
“Stella has had a truly groundbreaking career in the motoring industry after becoming the first fully qualified female automotive engineer with the highest qualifications possible in the UK,” AA chief executive Brian Gibbons says.
“She has an extensive list of her achievements here at the AA in terms of the vital services that she has been instrumental in developing and overseeing and we would like to acknowledge and thank her for the rich legacy she leaves behind.”
Stocks says she is grateful for the fantastic relationships she has developed throughout the industry.
“I have enjoyed my two decades with the AA and I look forward to seeing the continued growth and development of the work already completed in Motoring Services,” Stocks says.
“I have also relished my role as a Council Member and Director for ANCAP. Vehicle safety began as simply part of the job, but became a passion when I realised what a significant impact it could have on those involved in an accident.”
