Maps for 50MAX freight operators now come in a mobile-friendly version accompanied by a number of advanced features, including location, as well as scope for future improvements.

Project manager Grant Foster says all major smartphones and tablets can use the platform which has a similar ‘look and feel’ as Google Maps, which makes for easy reading.

Other features include views from different backgrounds such as aerial imagery or roads and ease of printing. “It also has the option to work in with the location of the device for easy route planning,” adds Foster.

This initiative forms part of the NZ Transport Agency’s commitment to making it easier to use high productivity motor vehicles (HPMVs).
