More than 40 former New Zealand Defence Force Mercedes-Benz Unimog trucks are being sold by Turners at auction ending November 15.
The tan and white Unimogs have a more than 3.8 metre wheelbase and a 6872kg unladen weight, Stuff reports. Timber flat decks are 4210mm long and 2460mm wide, some with canvas canopies.
The Trade Me auction website shows surface rust, lichen and cobwebs on the 1980s 4x4s with descriptions ranging from still very driveable to “will not drive due to transmission issue”.
The Turners Trucks and Machinery Facebook page describes the Unimogs as “well maintained and low kms for their age – a rare opportunity to own one of these magnificent all-terrain vehicles”.
Prospective buyers can view the trucks at Burnham Military Camp on November 13.
Unimogs have been part of the Army for 30 years.
The trucks are being sold because the New Zealand Army is introducing 194 Man medium and heavy operational vehicles (MHOVs), expected to be fully in service by December.
