Mercedes-Benz Trucks is showcasing its fully electric eEconic waste and recycling collection vehicle at this week’s ReGen Expo Australia, positioning it as the “most advanced electric truck of its kind” currently available locally.

The expo runs from July 24 to 25 in Sydney and will feature the latest version of the 6×2 eEconic, now fitted with dual rear wheels to improve weight distribution.

“The Mercedes-Benz eEconic is the perfect choice for collecting waste and recycling day in and day out while producing zero exhaust emissions,” Mercedes-Benz Trucks Australia Pacific vice president of sales and marketing Andrew Assimo says.

“It is the most advanced electric waste and recycling truck available in Australia backed by a trusted manufacturer and supported by the Daimler Truck dealership network.”

The eEconic is purpose-built as a city-friendly waste and recycling truck, offering improved visibility, safety features, and practicality over traditional modified commercial trucks.

It shares key electric components with the eActros, another battery-electric model already available in Australia and New Zealand.

Daimler Truck, which owns the Mercedes-Benz and Fuso brands, was the first manufacturer to bring an all-electric truck to the local market when it introduced the Fuso eCanter in 2021.

While leading in battery-electric technology, Mercedes-Benz Trucks says it also continues to support lower-emission internal combustion options.
