Amazon has made its largest-ever purchase of electric heavy goods vehicles, ordering more than 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks, also marking the biggest e-truck contract for Mercedes-Benz to date.
The eActros 600 will join Amazon’s transportation network from 2025. The battery-electric trucks are expected to deliver over 350 million packages annually across long-distance routes in Germany and the UK.
Daimler Truck AG chief executive Karin Rådström welcomed the partnership, saying: “We are very pleased that Amazon, a pioneer in the transformation towards alternative drives, has chosen the eActros 600, a gamechanger for sustainable transportation.”
The deal follows successful trials of the eActros 600 prototype at one of Amazon’s logistics centres in Germany. The order includes over 140 trucks for the UK and more than 50 for Germany.

Amazon has positioned the move as a step toward achieving its climate pledge commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Andreas Marschner, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide operations sustainability, commented: “The order of more than 200 eActros 600 underlines our commitment to being a leader in electrifying our transportation network in Europe. It is the biggest electric heavy truck order by Amazon to date anywhere in the world and is an important step as we work to achieve our Climate Pledge commitment.”
The eActros 600 boasts an impressive battery capacity of over 600 kilowatt-hours and a range of 500 kilometres under practical conditions, even with a 40-tonne load, Daimler says. With intermediate charging during driver breaks, the truck can reportedly cover over 1000 kilometres daily.
The model features an aerodynamic design and aims to replace diesel trucks in long-distance transport. Mercedes-Benz is also introducing a holistic solution for fleet operators, including vehicle technology, consulting, and charging infrastructure under its new TruckCharge brand.
The eActros 600 has already garnered accolades, being named ‘International Truck of the Year 2025’ by a panel of 24 commercial vehicle journalists. The truck has been tested under real-life conditions, including a 15,000-kilometre European tour through 22 countries, demonstrating its capabilities in long-haul transport.
Production of the eActros 600 began in late 2024 at Mercedes-Benz’s plant in Wörth am Rhein.
