Southland resident Brent Scully has been elected as the new president of The New Zealand Ground-spread Fertilisers Association.
The election was held at the annual general meeting of the association in Waitangi. He replaces Stuart Barwood who has held the position for the last four years.
Scully from Centre Bush in Southland has more than 30 years’ experience in the ground-spread industry as the owner of Scully’s Transport.
He held the position of president of the Southland Ground-spreaders for more than six years and has served on the National Council for the previous nine years.
After the election was held, he paid tribute to Barwood.
“Stuart has led the NZGFA through a period of intensive change,” says Scully. “He did this with flair, consulting throughout.
“His guiding of the new health and safety manual from conception to completion was a major achievement.
“My ambition as the new president will be to continue the reforms and increase our membership,” says Scully.
New vice presidents were also elected at the meeting. Dean Brooks of Nelson and Stu Pinney of Waikato also joined the NZGFA team.
