Bridgestone is helping to make a difference for people affected by blood cancer with a donation of $52,605 to Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ.
The money was collected through its annual ‘Drive for a Cure’ initiative which raised $3 for each Bridgestone branded passenger, 4×4, and SUV tyre sold through Blood Cancer Awareness month in 2023.
Over the past five years, Bridgestone New Zealand, through its network of Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Tyre Centres, has raised nearly $250,000 for the charity.
“We’re proud to contribute to the work of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand because it is a demonstration of Bridgestone’s vision of a more sustainable society,” Bridgestone NZ director John Staples says.
“Initiatives like our ‘Drive for a Cure’ campaign are important because it allows our customers to also make a difference through simply choosing Bridgestone.”
The funds raised through the campaign play a crucial role in providing personalised support, information, and education to patients and families, as well as funding research, raising awareness, and providing advocacy.
The campaign has a direct impact on the lives of over 21,000 New Zealanders currently living with blood cancer, supporting services such as fuel vouchers to ensure access to vital treatments.
“We are delighted with the success of this year’s Bridgestone’s Drive for a cure campaign,” Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ chief executive Peter Fergusson says.
“Last year was a tough year for many people but dealing with the impact of a blood cancer diagnosis makes it even harder.
Bridgestone’s generosity has made a difference to so many patients and their families throughout New Zealand.”
Bridgestone’s charity work is part of its E8 Commitment made up of eight company vales (energy, ecology, efficiency, extension, economy, emotion, ease and empowerment) to bring together employees, society, its partners, and customers.
