FedEx Express is expanding its international e-commerce shipping service to four more markets across the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region including New Zealand.
The global express giant is boosting its FedEx International Connect Plus (FICP) offering which includes international, day-definite, e-commerce shipping at competitive speed and prices, the company says.
As well as New Zealand, the expansion includes Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam with the goal of fuelling cross-border e-commerce growth within Southeast Asia.
Led by three of the fastest-growing markets (the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam) e-commerce sales in Southeast Asia are expected to reach $100 billion by 2023.
The e-commerce market in New Zealand is also forecast to grow 6% each year up to 2025.
With this expansion, FICP is now available to customers across 14 markets which also includes Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, mainland China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
“E-commerce merchants in these markets can now offer their customers an international shipping solution with prices that offer value-for-money, while ensuring most shipments will be delivered between one to three business days within AMEA,” FedEx says.

The service also offers other delivery capabilities, including tracking, sending out notifications to receivers and the flexibility to change delivery options via FedEx Delivery Manager.
FedEx Express is one of the world’s largest express transportation companies using a global air-and-ground network.
Salil Chari, FedEx Express AMEA region marketing and customer experience senior vice president, says the company has seen a strong uptake among its e-commerce customers since the launch of FICP last year.
It provides a “sweet spot for e-tailers to offer speedy delivery at reasonable costs”.
“Providing businesses with a broader portfolio of shipping solutions, that match their specific needs is a top priority for us at FedEx.
“Alongside our other digital solutions, the expansion of FICP allows us to better support customers and accelerate the future growth of cross-border e-commerce within this dynamic region,” Chari says.
FedEx Express Australasia vice president Peter Langley says New Zealand e-commerce businesses are increasingly looking for more diversified, cost-effective solutions to meet consumers’ needs.
He says with FICP they can provide their customers with a time definite international shipping solution with prices that offer “value-for-money”.
“The launch of FedEx International Connect Plus empowers e-commerce businesses to tap into cross-border opportunities, making it easier to meet the rising demand for local goods,” Langley says.
