The new generation Fuso heavy truck range will be revealed at the Brisbane Truck Show in May.
An Australian testing and development regime has been part of the new Fuso heavy range, which has only be referred to by its “Black Panther” working title.
Fuso says the new truck will bring “active emergency braking and adaptive cruise control”, as well as feature the Daimler-derived 11-litre straight six engine.
A 12-speed automated manual gearbox will deliver “a range of power outputs” and torque figures that will be revealed at the Brisbane Truck Show (May 16-19), Daimler Truck & Bus Australia/Pacific says.
The Black Panther will be on display beside its medium duty Fighter and small Canter brethren, and brings “new levels of comfort and refinement to the Japanese heavy truck market,” Daimler says.
Fuso Australia director Justin Whitford says the new-generation is the start of something new for the brand.
“Anyone who has driven one of our test trucks has come out raving about the refinement, the comfort and performance as well as the world-class safety features,” he says.
“It is a cutting edge truck that will save our customers money and we know they are going to love it,” Whitford adds.
He says in developing the Black Panther “We have listened to our Australian customers and we have delivered the heavy duty truck they have been waiting for.”
