Pavlovich Coachlines drivers are the latest to take part in strike action over pay and work condition disputes.
Around 60 drivers went on strike for two hours this morning, picketing their workplace based in Mount Roskill, Auckland.
The company operates 34 public services.
First Union organiser Graham McKean says the workers are pushing back against the Public Transport Operating Model which is the council tendering process.
McKean says the process favours low wage operators and a new model is needed.
“There’s a reason they have all the work, they pay bottom dollar. They’re dragging the whole industry down.
“Many of these employees have been driving for decades and they have the responsibility of the wellbeing of hundreds of people a day on their shoulders. Pay them what they’re worth,” McKean says.
Meanwhile, First Union and Tramways Union called off strike action for NZ Bus operations in Auckland today and Friday.
The stoppage would have affected 59 trips.
