Convicted fraudster Joanne Harrison was given a high level job at the Ministry of Transport in 2011, despite supplying a CV that left off a major role she previously held at Far North District Council.

However, she mentioned the council role prominently in a previous application made in 2008, Stuff reports.

The Ministry of Transport says the anomaly was not picked up because Harrison was not shortlisted for the role in 2008.

As a result, she was not identified as the same person who applied three years later.

Meanwhile, questions are still being asked about nine trips Harrison took when employed at the ministry.

Her total travel bill was $42,672, including 17 flights between Wellington and Kerikeri via Auckland and two trips to the United Kingdom.

Harrison’s $725,000 fraud at the ministry saw her former boss, current auditor-general Martin Matthews step aside last week, pending an new investigation by former diplomat Sir Maarten Wevers.
